A Sustainable Vision for Chicago’s Future.

Raheem Uqdah is a social impact and community organizing professional living in the South Loop with his two kids. For over a decade, Raheem has worked in volunteerism, community service, and corporate responsibility, gaining firsthand experience driving meaningful community impact. After working along the periphery for years, Raheem is completing his Master’s in Public Administration at UIC with a focus on local governance and urban environmental policy. Organizing within the Chicago chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America, Raheem intends to demonstrate the effectiveness of socialist policies at the city level.

As a father, renter, and neighbor of the South Loop, Raheem is campaigning for the position of 3rd ward alderman. The near south side is on the verge of incredible development and opportunity with the construction of the 78 and a growing business community. Raheem believes that new leadership is needed to guide this development, and a proactive policy should be implemented to make the entire ward a vibrant and diverse community.

Raheem plans to create dialogue with neighbors throughout the ward to ensure that people of all means and perspectives are included in the decision-making, budgeting, and development of this beautiful and historic ward. Raheem wants to make our city council more responsive and implement policies that strengthen Chicago and build towards a city we can all be proud of and grow within.

  • Sustainable Development: Ensuring that we are developing a resilient Chicago, from infrastructure to business development that brings a wide variety of amenities to all of Chicago’s vibrant communities.
  • Livability & Affordability: Implementing policies and promoting development that increase housing availability in the near south and across the city, and investing in public services that equitably improve quality of life for all of Chicago.
  • Government Transparency & Efficiency: Balancing Chicago’s budget in a way that delivers on social programs that improve the lives of all of Chicago and the most vulnerable.
